Sen. Conrad presses IHS director about care in North Dakota

Sen. Kent Conrad (D-North Dakota) said he has put Yvette Roubideaux, the director of the
Indian Health Service, "on notice" due to concerns about the quality of care being provided in North Dakota.
Conrad met with Roubideaux in Washington, D.C., yesterday. He brought up a
Senate Indian Affairs
Committee report that uncovered mismanagement and other problems in the Aberdeen Area, which includes North Dakota.
"Native Americans in North Dakota who seek care from the Indian Health Service deserve better," Conrad said in a press release. "I put Dr. Roubideaux on notice and told her more must be done to ensure IHS patients in North Dakota receive the quality care they need and deserve."
Roubideaux has said the IHS is taking steps to correct problems in Aberdeen and is conducting reviews of all of other IHS areas.
